This is a read on our own order book rather than a trend forecast. It covers independent home and gift retailers, museum stores, schools and interior studios across the US and EU for the first six months of 2026.
History and astronomy lead; philosophy converts on the wall
Dynastic timelines and star maps account for the majority of units ordered, and parchment and earthy palettes still carry most of that volume. The change from last year is specificity: buyers increasingly want to know which dynasty, which star catalogue, which trigram sequence, because a chart with real provenance is far harder to undercut online than a decorative print. The I Ching and five-phases designs start slower but sell through more steadily once a customer has seen them framed.
50 × 70 is the volume size
The 50 × 70 format is the workhorse. It is large enough to anchor a wall group and small enough to ship without palletising. 30 × 40 follows for studies and gallery walls; 70 × 100 is almost entirely a designer, museum and hospitality purchase.
Sets are outselling singles in gift-led stores
- A set of four carries a clearer gift price point and a higher perceived value than four singles.
- Sets pack in a single carton, which simplifies receiving for one-person shops.
- Sets reduce decision fatigue — the customer buys one thing instead of composing a wall.
If you are building a first order, a defensible opening range is: two parchment pieces at 50 × 70 — one dynastic timeline, one star map — a philosophy or trigram design at 30 × 40, one set of four, and one 70 × 100 anchor. That is five SKUs — and because the minimum applies per SKU rather than to the order, the opening quantity is five times the per-SKU minimum. Drop a line before you drop below the minimum.
